A friend asked me, “What good is a liberal arts degree?”—pointing out that very few Humanities majors wind up working in their field of study. To me, this seemed to prove the value of the liberal arts. I did some digging in my own back garden and found that my college classmates included a bishop, a National Geographic photographer, a submarine pilot, and a professional Teddy Roosevelt impersonator. This inspired me to write this article for my alumni magazine (if small type gives you eyestrain, click “View Project” above).
